Director Statement
I once sat in a job interview at a Canadian sports network and was told that my passion for women’s sports and telling the stories of female athletes, would get me nowhere, because most people don’t care about “that stuff.” That stayed with me. This film comes from that moment, and from a desire to challenge it.
Following a youth women's hockey team, I was drawn to a simple question: what happens when the path in front of you starts to feel real? With the rise of the Professional Women’s Hockey League, these players are growing up with something previous generations didn’t have: a future they can actually see.
I took an observational approach, staying close to their world, practices, locker rooms, quiet moments before games, and letting their experiences speak without narration.
What emerges is a shift in real time, in confidence, expectation, and ambition. This film is about visibility, and how seeing yourself at the highest level can reshape what you believe is possible.
Because these stories do matter.
